About Me

My name is Julia, and I am a sophomore at the University of Texas at Austin. My major is computer science, in which I am in the Turing honors program. However, I do not want to be restricted to only the logical use of computers, and therefore I am also in the Digital Media Bridging Disciplines Program.

I grew up in various places in New England, before finally settling down in the hot, hot city of Austin. In a family where there are more than three times as many computers in the house as there are people, pursuing a computer-related career was inevitable. In sixth grade, I discovered the wonders of HTML and Photoshop, and began experimenting on my own. Over time, I picked up CSS and PHP. It wasn't until I came across 3ds Max and the effects-heavy films Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars that I found my perfect career. Being extremely visual, picturing objects in different dimensions came easily. Ultimately I would love to work for Pixar or ILM, and have my name be crammed into the end of the credits of some film.

In my free time, I love hanging out with friends and pursuing various interests. I play piano, violin, and pipe organ, and my music library consists of classical, rock, electronic, and soundtrack music. In high school I was part of the cross country team, but only run on my own now. My hands and papers are often covered in ink stains from pen doodles and calligraphy. I also love foreign languages, mythology, and history. I hope to be able to travel around the world, picking up freelance jobs and experiencing everything the world has to offer.
